Oh my goodness, I'm so excited!! I just made this community and I've got 9 members ehehehe...I'm such a kid. Thank you all so much for joining. Take advantage of this site whenever possible. For me, writing down my progress and such, is somewhat theraputic, to me to reflect on everything I've accomplished for the day. Take it step by step, day by day, little by little,...well you get the point :) Great!! My last community, I had for Taebo and nobody posted anything, and I had like 4 members LOL, and it was dead. So nevertheless, this is awesome! Keep it up everyone!

Jackie

First post.. Lets see... so far I have changed my eating habits pretty dramatically. That wasn't too hard for me. I am actually eating more now than I am used to but It's kick starting my metabolism in the morning. Smaller portions and higher frequency of meals, keeping an eye on sugars and fats.

It's really hard for me to eat in the morning but I am forcing myself to. I kick the day off with a Multi Vitamin, Danon LightnFit Yogurt and Prople fitness water. I am doing WeightWatchers online and that has really helps keep it on track. My entire breakfast is usually only 2.5 poipnts out of my 26 I am allowed per day. I generally stick to the Smart Ones meals for lunch and dinner. I thought they would be really horrible and not filling but oddly enough, they are amazingly good. Better than some of the things I would cook and I don't have to worry about guessing their points values because they are right on the cover. I get to still have falvor and be on a diet... score.

Working out has been harder for me lately because I have been sick. But I have at least gotten back to the Gym. I am still however looking for a workout buddy (I go to the YMCA southtowns and it's gorgeous there) If anyone is interested.

I am 5'8, my short term goal is 190.

Two weeks ago I weighed in at 216 lbs
Today I weighed in at 211 lbs

I am trying to only weigh myself every once in a while/ once a week because it has been fluctuating week. But 5 lbs in two weeks is not bad...

I like this community! I too have decided that 2006 will be my lean year. I am a figure skater, and it is a big motivating factor in losing weight and getting fit. I want to compete and skate well at Adult Nationals next year, and pass my remaining moves tests (two more to my gold medal!). I am 25, 5'2", size 16/18. My immediate goal is to get below the big two-oh-oh. My long, long term goal is to get down to a size 6/8. I have a high school reunion in two years and I'd like to look fabulous for that!

Nutrition: So far I have been making little changes. If I radically change my diet and habits, I'll never stick to them. I love Pepsi, diet just doesn't do it for me. Instead of buying 2-liters and sucking down three or four a week, I bought cans and have been limiting myself to one per day. I got SmartWater in sports bottles and have been taking one to work, one to skating and one at night. I am also trying to cut down on the cheese and pasta consumption (my weaknesses!). Also, I am trying to eat more vegetables (I do good with fruit). I recently discovered a frozen carrot and cranberries thing that is really yummy.

Exercise: In addition to skating 3-4 times a week, about an hour to 1.5 hours each, I have been doing arm weights and pilates at night. This Saturday I'm getting an elliptical so I'm hoping to add 30 minutes 2-3 times per week. Two years ago I did that and lost 15lbs. I've gained about 10 of that back since then. :P

Let's hear about everyone else's story and goals!

Today, I started out with a yogurt and some water.

Went to work, did toe raises and leg lifts while standing at work. Approximately 100 of each with the weight all on one leg. I also tensed and relaxed my abs approximately 50 times in succession.

For lunch, I had a low carb wrap and water.

For a snack, I had a rice krispy treat and a diet pepsi.

Did more toe raises (50 on each leg).

Dinner = a handful of fries, one serving of mac salad and one chicken finger...and water.

Officially over a week! Alright! Anyhow, today was hard, I wasn't able to workout til after my classes at 3, and I was feelin' pretty tired, so that sucked. My normal performance went down some noches and I only burned 330 cals on the elliptical. BUT made up for it on the bike, instead of doin' 15 mins, I did 27, did whatever it took to burn off the last 170 cals to make it my usual 500 benchmark. My ass is sore, I'm tired now. But atleast I did it :) C'mon, we need people writing in here LOL!

Well, one FULL week, 7 WHOLE DAYS!! Alright!! The first week is officially OVER! I'm through it, hooray hoorah, booyah!!! Had some cream of broccoli soup w/ my salad tonight, mmmmmm verrry good! The workout was really hard today, I was tired going into the gym, and had to pull through, managed to do it but was pretty tired afterwards. Finishing up my last ounces of water before bed. And that's about it for now.

Another day, another semi-struggle. Well, each day, walking by the yummy foods isn't getting any EASIER yet, but who could expect it to be? I still haven't CHEATED :D 6 days into, just a hair under a week!! Very proud! Although, I'm finding that I'm actually enjoying going to the gym now and working out...it's an absolute miracle, I NEVER thought I would actually enjoy going to the gym, EVER! But it pumps me up, wakes me up, I feel really good knowing I'm doing good for my body. VERY tempted to go on the scale in the gym today, BUT refrained. I'm tellin ya people, NOTHING will stop me, nothing at all, this is it! I can feel it!

I heard that the body burns off roughly 1,500 calories a day by doing nothing. Does that seem right? Doesn't make sense to me. A certain amount due to natural metabolism, yes, but that much? Seems unlikely.

*NOTE*

I was contemplating buying a scale for myself. But the thing is, I'm afraid that if the scales around that I will be obsessed with the numbers and distracting myself and losing confidence, if the numbers don't just drop. So, instead of buying a scale, I'll know by the way my clothes fit, or even by looking in the mirror. The problem with dumb scales for me in the past, is when I feel I've worked hard, and don't lose much weight, I've given up eventually, feeling hopeless, that I can't do it. So instead of concentrating on the numbers, just take it day by day by day, one baby step at a time, and keep the motivation long lasting, and results will come with time.

Also:
Geez, I did some research yesterday on the foods that I've been eating and calorie content, etc. Once I added up the approximations of the bagel, light cream cheese, light yogurt and raspberry iced tea, I came to anywhere between 600-800 calories, JUST for breakfast ALONE!!! The average consumption intake that a person should have a day is between 1,200-1,500 but not to fall below that range. So, nevertheless, I freaked out a bit. I was under the impression that bagels weren't all that bad and somewhat healthy. But when I was researching the fat content of different bagels, I was very surprised. I was having a multi-grain bagel every morning, thinking that it was the healthiest and probably the fewest calories. Well, I was wrong. One multi-grain bagel can have anywhere from 300-400 calories, and just a plain bagel (which I would think would be worse) is about 190 cals. Then, I decided to do a search on whether or not bagels were even healthy, actually their not. SO, decided to tweak my breakfast menu. Instead of a bagel w/ light cream cheese. I have 1 small packet of raisin bran cereal w/ fat free milk, light blueberry yogurt, fruit cup and honey green tea. I decided to switch from the raspberry to green tea b/c I'm saving 40 cals altogether and it's healthier. So now instead of breakfast being between 600-800 it's probably more around 500 now. Any little bit helps. I don't think I could eat any healthier than this lol.....
